Proterra Enters Off-Highway Market with Komatsu Partnership

Proterra is providing its battery technology and expertise to help Komatsu develop a battery-electric excavator.

On this week’s episode of OEM Industry Update we speak with Claire McConnell, Vice President of Proterra Powered, about the company’s battery technology as well as it’s partnership with Komatsu to develop a battery-electric excavator. This is Proterra’s first project in the off-highway market, which it believes is an important one for electromobility.

McConnell says construction equipment is especially ripe for electrification, and thus Proterra is excited to work with Komatsu on the excavator concept. Proterra will be providing its battery technology and expertise to aid with the development of the electric machine.
