President Obama Launches EV-Everywhere Challenge

President Obama recently launched the EV-Everywhere challenge, which is geared towards making electric vehicles more affordable and convenient to drive.

At a recent event held at Daimler Truck's Mt. Holly, NC, factory, President Obama officially launched the EV-Everywhere challenge. This project is geared towards bringing together U.S. scientists, engineers and business to collaborate on ways to make electric vehicles more affordable as well as convenient to own and drive within the next 10 years.

Advances in electric vehicle technology would include making the vehicles more reliable, reducing maintenance and increasing driving performance over gasoline-powered vehicles.

The goal of the project is to create an affordable five-passenger electric vehicle by 2022 that would offer a payback time of less than five years. Universities, industry, national laboratories and government partners will all work together to meet this goal.
