Diesel Technology Forum Hosting Free Webinar on May 1

Diesel Technology Forum will be hosting a free webinar on May 1 which focuses on new EPA funding for clean diesel projects.

The Diesel Technology Forum (DTF) announces a free webinar featuring officials from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) National Clean Diesel Campaign who will offer insights and a detailed explanation of the new Diesel Emission Reduction Act (DERA) grant funding for FY 2012.

Join the retrofit experts at the DTF and EPA officials Tuesday, May 1 from 2 p.m. to 3:15 pm (ET) to learn about the details of FY 2012 DERA funding to help you develop and submit a competitive grant application. Register online here. The webinar is free but space is limited.

On April 20, 2012 EPA released a new Request for Proposals (RFP) for DERA grant applications (see EPA website). This is the first competition since DERA was reauthorized in 2011. For those applicants and partners familiar with the previous grant process and selection criteria, there are new changes to the project selection and submission criteria, matching fund requirements for repowers and more.

DERA was created in 2005 to improve America's air quality by upgrading and modernizing older diesel engines and equipment through several approaches including engine repowers and replacements and the application of new exhaust emissions filters and catalysts. These upgrades can reduce emissions from older engines by as much as 90%. The National Academy of Sciences calls DERA one of the most cost-effective air quality projects in the nation.
