Volvo Announces Plans to Release LNG Engine

Volvo announces it plans to release an LNG engine in 2014, as well as continue investigating the use of DME to fuel heavy-duty engines.

Volvo Trucks North America (VTNA) has announced it will release a 13-liter liquefied natural gas (LNG) engine in 2014.

Along with LNG engines, VTNA will continue to persue implementation of heavy-duty engines fueled by dimethyl ether (DME). The company says DME is similar to diesel, but with fewer green house gas emissions.
