The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announces the availability of up to $12 million in funding geared towards reducing the cost of producing fuels from biomass.
Up to five research and development projects will be eligible for this new funding. Eligible projects will increase biofuel yields from non-food based lignocellulosic feedstocks which includes agricultural residue, fast-growing poplar trees and switchgrass.
Funding is open to universities, national laboratories, industrial entities and nonprofit organizations.
