The Historical Construction Equipment Association (HCEA), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the history of the construction, dredging and surface mining equipment industries, announces three new Corporate Memberships.
Formed in 1925 through the merger of The Holt Manufacturing Company and C. L. Best Tractor Company, Caterpillar is the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment. Along with these product lines whose history is preserved by the HCEA, Cat is also a world leader in diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines, diesel generator sets, and diesel-electric locomotives. Through a 50/50 joint venture with Navistar, Caterpillar also produces heavy-duty over-the-road trucks.
A. A. Will Corporation was founded in 1886 by Alex Will and is now under its fifth generation of Will family ownership and is the oldest family-operated construction firm in the greater Boston area. It has progressed from horse carts for hire and delivery of fill, firewood and manure to foundation construction, underpinning, top-down building construction, site development, landfill construction and remediation, and heavy civil construction.
Stone Products Inc. is a leading wholesaler of new and used mining and aggregate equipment in Canton, OH. Founded in 1970, it serves the entire United States and Canada, as well as parts of South America, Central America, Mexico, the Caribbean Islands and Asia.
Supreme-DSC Dredge, LLC was formed in November, 2011, through the combination of cutter and suction dredge manufacturer DSC Dredge, LLC and clamshell dredge builder Supreme Dredge & Processing, LLC. It has plants in Pennsylvania, Mississippi and Michigan, and provides sales and service in over 40 countries.
O & G Industries is one of the largest construction materials and services companies in the Northeastern United States. Founded in 1923 and operating under its third generation of family management, this Torrington, CT, company is both a major building and heavy contractor and a producer of aggregates, asphalt, concrete, masonry and architectural stone.
Columbus Equipment Company was founded in April 1952 when founder Willis Early purchased his employer, Carroll & Edwards. Headquartered in Columbus, OH, it represents Komatsu, Mooroka, Takeuchi, Atlas Copco and Kubota from 10 locations across the Buckeye State.
Eagle Crusher Company of Galion, OH, pioneered the structural steel frame jaw crusher in the early 1900s and produced its first portable hard rock crusher in 1928. It acquired the Austin-Western and Diamond Iron Works lines of aggregate equipment in the 1970s, and continues under its third generation of private ownership as a leading innovator of high-volume portable crushing equipment.
Rhoads Industries is a heavy metal fabricator and shipbuilder. Founded in 1938, it is based in Philadelphia, PA, with facilities in the former Philadelphia Navy Yard.
Capone Brothers, Inc., of Canton, MA, is a highway contractor founded in 1968.
HCEA Corporate Members designate up to five of their officers and employees to receive the HCEA’s quarterly magazine, Equipment Echoes, and VIP passes to its annual International Convention and Old Equipment Exposition, to be held next in Wilmington, IL, August 16 through 18, 2013. They also receive links on the HCEA’s website at www.hcea.net, and are being publicized in Equipment Echoes and in press releases to trade publications and websites.
