The White House has stated it may veto the House's proposed spending bill for the Departments of Transportation (DOT) and Housing and Urban Development (HUD) due to the steep cuts made by the House in the bill.
At $44.1 billion, the federal bill is $7.7 billion less than current spending levels. The Obama administration says this deters critical investments in economic and community development programs, as well as reduces funds for necessary public improvements such as those for improved air traffic control infrastructure and affordable housing.
