House approves 10-month funding for transportation trust fund

The U.S. House of Representatives has signed an $11 billion plan that will keep transportation projects federally funded for the next 10 months.

It was announced on July 16 the U.S. House of Representatives passed an $11 billion plan that will pay for the federal government's portion of road and bridge repairs. The new funding will cover transportation projects over the next 10 months.

The plan was put in place due to the impending depletion of the highway trust fund that is expected to run out of money on August 1, which could bring many transportation projects to a halt.

This new funding plan passed with a vote of 367 to 55, and is now awaiting Senate approval, where it is also expected to pass. The bill will then go to President Obama for signing.
