Natural Gas Vehicles for America (NGVAmerica) announces that Matthew Godlewski has been named its new president. Godlewski will succeed Rich Kolodziej, who has served as NGVAmerica’s president since 1996 and has announced plans to retire.
“The NGV market is poised for rapid expansion, and NGVAmerica has a critical role in that growth,” says Ron Eickelman, Chairman of NGVAmerica and President, Agility Fuel Systems. “Matt is an experienced trade association executive who has a proven ability to lead effective teams and collaborate with industry allies. He will help elevate NGVAmerica’s mission and brand in the months ahead.”
Godlewski comes to NGVAmerica at a time when the use of abundant, clean, American natural gas is seeing exponential growth. There is expected to be a 20% increase in the purchase of large trucks that run on natural gas over last year and the compound annual growth rate in the volume of natural gas used in transportation is estimated to exceed 11% through 2040. Companies are building infrastructure across the nation to support this historic growth among public and private fleets, and to increase adoption in the consumer vehicle sector.
“The road ahead for natural gas as a transportation fuel is full of opportunity,” says Godlewski. “I am excited to join the industry during such a transformational period and look forward to serving NGVAmerica members as we work together to further accelerate its growth.”
Godlewski will begin at NGVAmerica in mid-October. He has more than 20 years of experience building effective teams, developing and executing strategic plans and working to shape policy at all levels of government. Most recently, Godlewski served on the leadership team of the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers as Vice President of State Affairs.
Prior to joining the alliance, he worked in the wine and spirits industry, serving as Director of State and Federal Policy at Pernod Ricard USA. He also served in the Global External Affairs Office of Seagram/Universal Studios, where he lobbied on state and federal issues.
Godlewski is a graduate of Michigan State University’s James Madison College, and holds a bachelor's degree in American Public Affairs.
