IDI Composites International, a global formulator and manufacturer of thermoset molding compounds, announces that none of their materials use the 53 SVHC's (Substances of Very High Concern) in the ECHA (European Chemicals Agency) REACH regulations - including the seven new materials included in the recent fifth listing.
REACH is the Regulation on Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals, with the goal of streamlining and improving the former legislative framework on chemicals of the European Union (EU).
The main goals of REACH are to ensure a high level of protection of human health and the environment from the risks that can be posed by chemicals, the promotion of alternative test methods, the free circulation of substances on the internal market and enhancing competitiveness and innovation.
REACH makes industry responsible for assessing and managing the risks posed by chemicals and providing appropriate safety information to their users.
"IDI is committed to compliance with respect to the ECHA REACH regulations and we're pleased to certify that none of the 53 SVHC's are used or processed in the manufacture of our BMC or SMC products," states Jay Merrell, Executive Vice President of IDI Composites International.
