ACS Builds Tognum's New Plant Expansion

ACS has partnered with Tognum to expand its MTU engine plant in South Carolina, which will include new engine test equipment.

ACS, an engine and vehicle test facility integration firm, has been contracted by Tognum America Inc., an American subsidiary of Tognum AG, to manage the design and construction of a major part of the $40 million expansion of the MTU Aiken Plant in Graniteville, SC.

The expansion includes two research and development buildings that include new engine test equipment along with mechanical and electrical facilities to support the development of MTU diesel engines. ACS’ role includes the design of the building, test systems and support infrastructure as well as the specification, procurement and installation of equipment and commissioning of the new equipment and facility. ACS will be fabricating custom test equipment out of its Verona, WI facility.

ACS first worked with Tognum America at this site two years ago on the initial modification and expansion of an existing facility that Tognum purchased when it decided to move its engine assembly operations to South Carolina. “The innovation and expertise that ACS has provided has been invaluable to us as we continue to expand our plant operations,” says Joerg Klisch, vice president of operations, Tognum America. “They continue to enable us to meet our goals.”

“We are fortunate to be partnering with Tognum again on this significant project and we offer our full commitment to their success,” says Jim Corkery, president of ACS.
