Global off-highway wheels manufacturer GKN is set to supply wheels to Armstrong Tyres and subsidiary Agritech Wheels for distribution in the Australian and Pacific Islands’ agricultural market.

Armstrong Tyres has forged a reputation as Australia’s largest and most trusted agricultural tire and wheel technology and conversion specialist. Product will be shipped from GKN Wheels Nagbol A/S in Denmark, including standard and bespoke agricultural rims, disc centers and complete wheels.

Armstrong Tyres subsidiary Agritech Wheels will offer a product range that includes diameters from 16 in. to 54 in., and widths of 8 in. to 30 in.; to provide bigger, heavier wheels with greater load bearing capacity to meet the country’s demanding climate and environment. Its in-house assembly capacity and extensive stock range enables faster turnaround times and easy supply of special orders to agricultural customers across Australia to meet productivity demands.

GKN Wheels continues to invest heavily in the development and manufacture of specialist wheels or demanding applications, drawing on its international development, testing and manufacturing bases and extensive track record in some of the world’s most challenging environments.

Commenting on behalf of Armstrong Tyres, Managing Director, Michael Armstrong, says, “We needed a supplier of wheel product we could rely on for quality and service. Not only is GKN Wheels’ company ethos very much in line with our own, we were also attracted to its willingness to share information, its industry reputation and understanding of its customer’s needs for quality and service.

“The Australian agricultural sector is strong with very good growth potential. Last year there were over 10,000 tractors sold, and sales were up 16% from the previous year. The mining, gas and oil sectors are also performing particularly well.”

He continues, “We are confident that working together will be mutually beneficial to GKN Wheels, Agritech Wheels and Armstrong Tyres for a long time to come.”

Machinery dealers, contractors, tire service companies and farmers across the country choose Armstrong Tyres for its efficient and effective service. Agritech Wheels, a subsidiary of Armstrong Tyres, was established in 2011 to import and manufacture all types of high quality agricultural wheels, using the best components from local and international suppliers.

Simon Harvey, Global Sales & Marketing Director at GKN Wheels, says, “Working with Armstrong Tyres and Agritech Wheels presents an opportunity for a quality and service-orientated agricultural wheel manufacturer to lead the marketplace in Australia and the Pacific Islands; tackling issues of low quality imports and stockholding issues at the same time. This is an exciting collaboration between two like-minded organisations working towards a common goal in a rapidly growing sector.”
