One of the 10 original Perkins Master Distributors in the United States, Southwest Products Corporation (SWP), has moved its corporate headquarters, manufacturing and distribution operations into a new 175,000 square foot building in Surprise, AZ.

Serving customers in Arizona, Nevada and California with Perkins diesel engines, generator sets, parts and service, SWP is also a major producer of lubrication, vacuum and mechanic’s trucks and custom tanks.

“This facility is one of the greatest highlights of our 56 year history, and it will spearhead our efforts to be both a regional distributor and a global manufacturer for decades to come,” says SWP President Tom Haney. “I think the most important aspect of this building is that it will allow us to meet our customer demand for quality products from both our truck and power divisions.”

SWP has been a Perkins master distributor, selling and providing aftermarket support for the full range of engines since 1997.

“The Southwest Products OEM sales team and their outstanding service and support network have been key factors in the success of Perkins diesel engines and generator sets in this important market,” notes Karl Vandermyde, Perkins Director Industrial Sales and Marketing, Americas. “We are pleased to have played a role in the on-going success that has allowed Southwest Products to bring more than 100 employees together into their new headquarters facility.”

Located on 17 acres, Southwest Products’ recently completed 175,000-square-foot building includes a distribution and manufacturing warehouse more than three times the size of its current facility in Phoenix, with improved systems aimed at streamlining processes and accommodating recent production growth. SWP’s sales and executive offices, as well as its project management, computer modeling and purchasing teams will also be located at the new building in Surprise.

The new state-of-the-art warehouse is complete with overhead cranes throughout the manufacturing area, and also contains a new high-tech sandblasting booth, two downdraft paint booths, an 800 CFM screw air compressor, a 50-ton press brake, and shears and rolls, among other equipment. There is ample square footage set aside for warehousing Perkins engines, parts and subassemblies. Eighteen heavy-duty bridge cranes with lift capabilities ranging from one-half to five tons, as well as four gantry cranes are in place to help streamline the manufacturing processes.
