At this year's Agritechnica, Webasto exhibited as a single-source systems supplier of heating and cooling solutions. The exhibition highlights included the Thermo Call, which operates the parking heaters Thermo Top Evo and Thermo Pro 90 by smartphone or telephone, air conditioners for agricultural machinery, and Engine-Off Technology to avoid idling engines for heating purposes. Manufacturers receive from Webasto a tailor-made, tuned and efficient overall original equipment (OE) system, comprising heater and air conditioner. This guarantees pleasant cab temperatures, not only in operation, but also during idle times. Webasto products were on view from November 10 through 16, 2013.

Thermo Call: Smart control for more efficiency, operational readiness, and comfort

The engine-independent Webasto parking heaters, Thermo Top Evo and Thermo Pro 90, make sure that agricultural and construction machinery are ready to operate at all times when deployed in winter. Now they provide even greater heater management efficiency. At Agritechnica, Webasto presented its Thermo Call to operate these water heaters. Using this control unit, which has already proved its worth on the automotive market, the heaters are
programmable by telephone and app at any time, and are switchable from anywhere or up to 24 hrs in advance.

A very practical feature: Up to 15 persons can access a vehicle heater by phone or text message. It is also possible for one user to control the heaters of several vehicles. Benefits: This guarantees that, not only the engine and cab are preheated, but the temperature of the hydraulic oil and battery are also at operating level, despite a frequent change of driver.

Engine-Off Technology: Preventing cost-intensive idle times

Another highlight at the trade fair: Engine-Off Technology. During breaks and idle times, this system prevents cab temperature from dropping by using residual engine heat. The still warm coolant continues to be circulated through the system by the parking heater’s circulation pump. When the on-board temperature sensor detects that the cab temperature drops below a certain limit during longer stop phases, the parking heater cuts in automatically. This avoids cost intensive idle times. The packet, comprising heater, Thermo Call and Engine-Off Technology, is available with immediate effect on the OE market and aftermarket.

Tailor-made air conditioning for agricultural machinery all year round

To keep the cab pleasantly cool in midsummer, Webasto offers a wide range of air conditioners. Engine-dependent and -independent systems ensure a pleasant cab climate during engine operation, and intermediate cooling during work breaks. Due to a broad product portfolio, customers receive a tailor-made system – specially developed and produced as OE for their machinery. A wide range of high-quality components makes sure that every customer obtains the right solution to meet his requirements, whatever the machine – compressor, heat exchanger, air circulation, or control unit. Roof-integrated, rooftop, or dashboard-integrated air conditioners are assembled, depending on the installation situation.
