Prestolite achieves ISO 14001:2004 certification

Prestolite has achieved ISO 14001:2004 certification for improved in-house environmental management systems.

Prestolite Electric Incorporated & Leece-Neville, a global manufacturer of heavy-duty alternators and starter motors, announces that it has achieved certification to ISO 14001:2004 through its Environmental Management System (EMS).

ISO 14001 is an internationally recognized standard. It clearly outlines how manufacturers can develop, implement and continuously improve upon their in-house environmental management systems. The standard is also designed to help accredited suppliers to remain commercially successful, while further ensuring their continued compliance with the latest environmental standards. All accredited companies under ISO 14001 are committed to remaining at the forefront of legal and industry regulatory standards impacting their operations. The system is also designed to encourage business growth, while helping companies to reduce the overall environmental impact of manufactured products.

Environmental, Health and Safety Manager Jim Bodensteiner ?noted, “Prestolite is committed to reducing the environmental impact of all of our products and manufacturing processes. The achievement of ISO 14001 is especially important for our long-term global strategic business growth. It reassures our customers, suppliers, distributors and employees that Prestolite products are both environmentally-friendly and of high quality. It also shows our continued investment in a more sustainable environmental future.”

Prior to this most recent accreditation, Prestolite held the highest quality management standards of ISO 9001/TS-16949:2009 for more than six years. This recognition was for the company’s core competency, namely the manufacturing excellence of heavy-duty alternator and starter motor products, sold primary into heavy truck, off-highway vehicle, fleet and commercial buses.
