Hatz introducing 4H50TIC Open Power Unit at bauma China

At bauma China Hatz Diesel will present its 4H50TIC Open Power Unit (OPU), a plug-and-play version of its water-cooled 2-liter engine, for the first time.

The new 4H50TIC Open Power Unit will be on display at bauma China.

The Germany-based engine manufacturer Hatz Diesel comes up with two highlights at this year's bauma China in Shanghai. Firstly, the ready-to-install plug and play solution 4H50TIC OPU (Open Power Unit) which will be presented to the public for the first time, secondly with the Chinese premiere of the already known 4H50TIC. In addition to the two exhibition highlights a number of Hatz single cylinder engines of the B- and D-series will be shown.

The 4H50TIC Open Power Unit
Based on a 4H50TIC, the Open Power Unit (OPU) includes all parts needed for the operation of the engine in addition to standard delivery. This includes radiator and intercooler which are mounted vibration-decoupled, and the corresponding piping and wiring harness. All parts are factory-installed in the production process, tested and prepared to be ready for installation. Thus, the customer only needs to connect tank, pre-filter and pump as well as air filter, battery and control box.
During the development of the OPU great attention was paid to the wide range of applications. Thus, the system is ideally suited for applications such as hydraulic lifts, hydraulic power units, forestry machinery, drilling rigs and stationary applications such as pumps and generators. In addition, the OPU is available already from lot sizes of one piece and, therefore, an ideal solution for small as well as large OEMs. The cooling system is designed for temperatures up to 46 C/116 F as a standard, but can also be customized for other temperature requirements.
The low weight of the base engine is reflected in the weight of the complete package. With just 255 kg the complete package weighs 82 kg more than the base engine. In addition, the box dimensions of 699 mm in width, 935 mm in length and 807 mm in height allow flexible installation even with restricted installation space.

The Hatz 4H50TIC
Since the beginning of 2014, the model range of Hatz Diesel has been extended by another member: the 4H50TIC. The 2-liter diesel engine, which is equipped with a Bosch common-rail fuel injection, turbocharger and external exhaust gas recirculation, includes, like all Hatz engines, a number of technical refinements that makes the engine the most compact in its class. This engine even has the highest power density in comparison to the competitors.
With 1,952 cc the engine has a maximum power of 55 kW and a maximum torque of 240 Nm, which is already available from 1,600 rpm. Including starter and alternator the 4H50TIC weighs only 173 kg and is therefore 90 kg lighter than its nearest competitor. Consequently, the engine is by far the one with the lowest power to weight ratio in the class up to 56 kW.
Due to the combustion process iHACS (intelligent Hatz Advanced Combustion Strategy), the optimized combustion chamber geometry, coupled with the sophisticated injection technology of the Bosch common rail system that operates with injection pressures of up to 1800 bar, the particle emission can be significantly reduced. So it is possible, to achieve the exhaust emissions standards EU 97/68 Stage IIIB and EPA Tier 4 Final without the use of a diesel particulate filter. However, a particulate filter is available for emission-sensitive urban areas as an option.
In addition to the technical benefits of the engine it can also score with low operating costs: firstly with a fuel consumption of just 210 g/kWh (at best point) and secondly with a service interval of 500 hours.

Hatz Diesel can be found in hall N5 stand 469.
