POSITAL-FRABA, an enthusiastic proponent of the use of information-based technologies to improve industrial productivity, is announcing its support for University4Industry.

University4Industry is an exciting new startup that aims to provide individuals and companies with opportunities to learn about the knowledge- and communications-based technologies that are radically changing how industries are designing, building, delivering and supporting their products and services. University4Industry is an online education platform that offers courses on the new industrial technologies that define “Industry 4.0”, “The Industrial Internet of Things” (IIoT), and digitization in a broader sense. The emphasis is on practical knowledge and real-world examples. Its objective is to help solve critical skills gaps for industry. Coursework is developed in collaboration with established educational institutions and with industrial enterprises that are actively tackling the challenges of the new industrial age.

POSITAL-FRABA is the subject of a course called “Industry 4.0 Case Study: Digitization of the Supply Chain.” This course describes how POSITAL, a specialist supplier of motion and position sensors, developed an advanced manufacturing and order fulfilment system that embraces 21st Century technologies such as universal connectivity, cloud-based knowledge access and the use of embedded microprocessors in ‘smart’ devices. With this system in place, POSITAL has been able to achieve “mass customization” – the ability to deliver offer products that are built to order according to their customers’ exact specifications, but which can be supplied quickly, at prices that are in line with those of conventional mass-produced items.
