At bauma 2016, Terex Cranes reintroduced the Demag brand to the mobile crane market, unveiled several new pieces of equipment and highlighted its latest machine innovations and features that enhance performance and safety on the jobsite.

Demag — A legend is reborn
Terex Cranes announces the return of a legend: the Demag brand. The Demag product lineup with its legendary technology and performance is alive and well. It will include 11 all-terrain cranes ranging from 100-1,200 tonnes capacity, and seven crawler cranes ranging from 400-3,200 tonnes of capacity.
The legendary innovation, performance and reliability long admired the world over – the product of more than a century of renowned engineering – lives on with the latest generation of Demag cranes. Demag combines exceptional design, engineering and drive technology in machines that deliver enhanced power, excellent maneuverability, comfort and design.
Innovation, Safety and our Customer
The Terex bauma 2016 booth had dedicated areas to showcase innovations in safety and customer support. Visitors were invited to learn more about Terex solutions developed to increase productivity, reduce operating expenses and provide safe working environments.
Visitors also had a chance to get an up-close look at many of the new innovations Terex Cranes has developed for the crane market including the Terex single engine concept, the IC-1 Plus control system that calculates lifting capacities for every position of the crane’s boom subject to the slewing angle of the superstructure, as well as the Flex Frame and Split Tray options available on the Demag CC 3800-1 and as a retrofit kit.
Another area of the booth highlighted customer support where virtual reality systems gave visitors the experience of walking through one of the Terex Cranes aftermarket parts centers, working on a production line or standing atop a Terex tower crane. Visitors were also able to operate a crane using the Simulift simulator. Information for technical support, maintenance and repair, service parts, as well as training will be given throughout each day of the show.
The Terex-wide commitment to safety was also on display in an area dedicated to the company's commitment to safety. There, visitors were able to test the Terex Cranes fall protection system, which won an ESTA Safety Award, among other Terex safety programs and innovations
Products at the Show
Demag AC 130-5 All Terrain Crane
The Demag AC 130-5 all-terrain crane is the most compact unit in the 130 tonne, five-axle capacity class with a total length of 14.3 m and a carrier width of 2.75 m. The crane comes with a standard 60-m long main boom but can reach a system length of more than 86.5 m with additional main boom extensions. It features a single engine concept with an intelligent motor management system that disburses needed horsepower for lifting and travel functions. The highly maneuverable unit has all-axle steering with an independent rear axle steering and dynamic launch controls. When traveling, it is designed to stay under 12 tonnes axle limit while still carrying a payload of up to 450 kg. It can also be outfitted with the optional IC-1 Plus control system, which calculates lifting capacities for every position of the boom subject to the slewing angle of the superstructure. This enables operators to use maximum lifting capacity especially when lifting over the outriggers.
Demag AC 220-5 All Terrain Crane
With a main boom length of 78 m, the new Demag AC 220-5 has the longest main boom reach of any five-axle crane on the market and that reach can be extended to a full 99 m with boom extensions. The AC 220-5 all terrain crane incorporates superior design, the latest in crane technology and engineering, and features to enhance productivity while reducing operating costs. It is in the 220 tonnes capacity class, and a compact frame of just 14.5 m long and 3 m wide for navigating in confined areas. The unit features a single engine concept with an intelligent motor management system to reduce operational and maintenance costs. With all-axle steering, independent rear axle steering and dynamic launch control, the crane has excellent maneuverability. In addition, the crane stays under the 12-tonne axle transportation limit while carrying up to 600 kg. It can also be outfitted with the optional IC-1 Plus control system, which calculates lifting capacities for every position of the boom subject to the slewing angle of the superstructure. This enables the use of maximum lifting capacity especially when lifting over the outriggers.
Demag AC 250-5 All Terrain Crane
The Demag AC 250-5 all-terrain crane is the most compact unit in its capacity class with a total length of just 14.5 m long, a carrier width of 3 m and is in the 250 tonnes capacity class. Its single engine concept reduces operational cost and maintenance by using an intelligent motor management system to deliver the precise amount of power needed for lifting operations and while transporting the crane. Its clean axle load allow the crane to stay under a 12-tonne-per-axle road limit while still transporting up to 550 kg of payload. The AC 250-5 has excellent maneuverability with all-axle steering, independent rear axle steering and dynamic launch control. It can also be outfitted with the optional IC-1 Plus control system, which calculates lifting capacities for every position of the boom subject to the slewing angle of the superstructure. This enables use of maximum lifting capacity especially when lifting over the outriggers.
Terex AC 40/2L All Terrain Crane
Designed for roadability and versatility, the Terex AC 40/2L all terrain crane features the longest main boom in its category offering a reach of up to 37.4 m, for a maximum tip height of 47 m. Combining the advantages of short telescoping times and high load telescoping capacity in all configurations, this highly mobile, two-axle all terrain crane is capable of lifting up to 40 tonnes at 2.6-m radius. Equipped with independent rear steering and an easy-to-operate counterweight unloading system — to make it simple for users to spread the load equally across each axle — the AC 40/2L all-terrain crane offers driving speeds of up to 80 km/h.
Terex Challenger 3180 All Terrain Crane
The Terex Challenger 3180 all-terrain crane incorporates several enhancements to increase productivity and reduce operating costs. The Challenger 3180 is in the 60 tonne capacity class, has a 50 m single cylinder telescoping system, the longest of any fully roadable three-axle all-terrain crane. Designed for one-person operation, the crane has an automated counterweight rigging system for easy and fast setup. The main boom can be tilted up to 5 degrees under floor to avoid working at heights and make rigging easier and safe.
Terex RT 90 Rough Terrain Crane
The new 80-tonne capacity, Terex RT 90 rough terrain crane, features an enhanced control system with integrated diagnostics, a redesigned cab with an 18-degree tilt and an easy access flat deck for improved visibility. The five section, full hydraulic boom of the RT 90 stretches 47 m for long reach applications, and the unit’s multi-stage outriggers are designed for a variety of outrigger positions. Transporting and operating costs are reduced due to the RT 90’s narrow width of 3 m and central lubrication system.
Terex CTT 332-16 Flat Top Tower Crane
The new Terex CTT 332-16 Flat Top Tower Crane is designed for heavy lifting and placement duties on challenging jobsites. The crane features a 75-m jib length, a jib tip capacity of 3 tonnes and maximum lifting capacity of 16 tonnes. The CTT 332-16 crane can be erected with three different tower systems and has a maximum free-standing height with standard configuration of 98.35 m. Crane parts dimensions, weights and modularity give the perfect choice for erection and transport.
