Perkins has launched its 404F-E22TA which is a compact, four-cylinder engine that for the first time uses common rail direct injection and full authority electronics on an engine of this size.

- Features turbocharged aftercooled design
- Common rail fuel system and full authority electronics provide greater flexibility in tailoring engine to specific applications
- Allows use a smaller displacement engine in machines where traditionally engines up to 2.9 liters may have been the norm
- Includes performance boost to 67 hp (50 kW) with a maximum torque of 208 Nm at 1,800 rpm, while rated speed is up to 2,800 rpm
- Option of a turbocharged non-aftercooled model, offering up to 48 hp (36 kW) available
- Provides improved load acceptance, good transient response and overall smoother operation
- Improved heat rejection for lower fan speeds provides 7% improvement in specific fuel consumption (SFC)
- Compact package size and sleek engine architecture with rear-mounted small DOC eases machine designs across many construction applications including skid steer loaders, compact wheeled loaders, hydraulic excavators and rollers
