PPG Industries' industrial coatings business has published data sheets for ULTRAX LTC10 and ULTRAX LTC20 cleaners, two powder-based, low-temperature spray cleaners that remove standard mill oils, non-waxy lubricants and rust preventatives from metal surfaces prior to paint application.
ULTRAX spray cleaners are the first industrial-strength, alkali-based powders to work when mixed with water at temperatures as low as 75 F. Because they reduce the heat needed during the cleaning process with conventional alkaline cleaners, ULTRAX cleaners help to reduce energy use. Additionally, ULTRAX cleaners reveal an ultra-clean surface for further pretreatment, helping to ensure maximum paint adhesion to various metal substrates.
ULTRAX cleaners are recommended for use in any production process requiring the pretreatment and painting of metal components, for end-products such as automobiles, appliances, lawn tractors, recreational vehicles or office furniture. ULTRAX LTC10 cleaner is engineered to clean steel surfaces. ULTRAX LTC20 is for multi-metal surfaces such as aluminum and galvanized steel.
Also, unlike most detergents and cleaning products, ULTRAX cleaners are made without alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEs), which are synthetic surfactants shown to have negative health effects on humans and wildlife when they biodegrade in sediment and groundwater near industrial facilities.
