In 1996 Oil & Steel was the first company to develop and manufacture a compact spider lift platform, the Octopussy 1055. Thirteen years later, the company decided to write another page in the history of access platforms by launching the Octopussy EVO series, including the Octopussy 1500 EVO and Octopussy 1800 EVO models.
In the new series, the aerial structure is completely separated from the tracks. Components such as the engine are inside the central body and are covered. In this way all the devices are protected and the physical access to them is simplified. The new series is articulated with a double pantograph structure which enables them to obtain a straight vertical ascent/descent. This feature makes for improved productivity. The brand new models are installed on moveable tracks that go from 78 to 95 cm, which facilitates the transit off road, and features a better stability for the platform.
Other important innovations in this new series are the stabilizing system, which allows positioning the stabilizers in several positions depending on the available space. Based on the position chosen, the platform will calculate automatically the working area and help prevent human error. The Octopussy EVO is equipped with a wired remote control which facilitates the operations of loading and unloading of it with ramps and moving because the operator is able to have a better view.
In Paris, Oil&Steel also showed another brand-new Octopussy model which has become the entry level machine in this product line: the Octopussy 1400 CLASSIC. Developed from the Octopussy 14, this new model offers complete hydraulic control, the extreme compactness and a low price.
