Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) has announced its production schedule for three small diesel engines in response to approaching EPA Tier 4 regulations. This includes the D03CJ, which will begin production in 2013.

- Produces a maximum output of 36 kW (48 hp) and a maximum torque of 124 Nm at 1,800 rpm
- Offers power density of 0.24 kW/L
- Includes an optimized common rail system with a diesel particulate filter (DPF) and diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) for Tier 4 compliance
- Compactly designed without sacrificing power, while also lowering fuel consumption
- Fuel efficiency is 16% better than previous engines
- Features high-performance turbochargers
- Combination of turbochargers and optimized common rail system enhances power density to increase output up to 50% compared with previous Tier 3 engines
