STW partners with CLAAS on development of variable split powerline transmission

STW partnered with CLAAS to develop a precision servo actuator for CLAAS' new EQ200 variable split powerline transmission.

As a partner of CLAAS, STW is delivering the precision servo actuator, a core electro-mechanical component of the new continuously variable split powerline transmission EQ200. The EQ200 will appear in the ARION 500/600 CMATIC, in the 140 to 184 hp range, from early 2014.

This precision servomechanism controls the hydraulic component of the EQ200, with high dynamics and very high rotational position accuracy based on STW specified and developed control algorithms. In a robust housing, to be mounted as part of the transmission, it includes the DSP control electronics with CAN interface, an especially compact motor, an encoder and a gearbox. All components fulfill the requirements for safety, reliability and durability needed to accompany the long life of an active tractor.

The development and commercialization of the continuously variable transmission EQ200 was done by CLAAS Industrietechnik in Paderborn. STW and FRAMO-Morat cooperated on specifying, developing, testing and commercializing the elementary components of the actuator.

This precision actuator was on display at Agritechnica 2013 on the stand from STW (Hall 17, stand A34). The EQ200 is presented by CLAAS in Hall 1, G133.
