Eaton developing hybrid system with smaller battery

Eaton is developing a hybrid power system that will feature a 50% smaller battery with improved battery charging capabilities.

Eaton Corp. has announced development of a hybrid power system that will contain a smaller battery, without forgoing performance or life span. The company's goal is to reduce battery size by 50% while at the same time improve battery charging capabilities.

The system is being designed to work in a wide range of vehicles from commercial vehicles to passenger cars.

Development of the hybrid system is funded jointly by Eaton and the U.S. Department of Energy through an Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy grant.

Researchers from Eaton will be working together with scientists from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
