Dana Rexroth R2 Hydromechanical Variable Transmission (HVT) - Short-Drop Version

Dana Rexroth Transmission Systems introduced a short-drop version of the R2 hydromechanical variable transmission (HVT) at CONEXPO 2017, with pre-production testing by OEMs expected to begin by the end of 2017.

• Ideal for material-handling, pushback, and forestry applications
• Features a modular configuration with a redesigned transmission case that reduces input/output distance
• Supports power outputs from 130-200 kW (174-268 hp)
• Demonstrated fuel savings of up to 25% over traditional transmission designs with additional savings possible through further optimization with equipment subsystems
• Reduce fuel consumption by decreasing engine speeds throughout the duty cycle and also at idle, when speeds can drop to as low as 600 rpm
• Enable sensitive, precise vehicle positioning with a stepless drive that offers improved acceleration while maintaining tractive effort
• Optimize the operating point of the diesel engine by decoupling engine speed from drive speed
• Maintenance costs are reduced by utilizing hydrostatic braking and wear-free directional reversing without clutches
