The launch fulfills the next step in the company’s safety technology road map.
- Delivers adaptive cruise control with braking features along with collision mitigation technology
- Uses radar sensor mounted to front of vehicle to provide warnings and active interventions to help drivers avoid rear-end collisions
- Provides following distance and stationary object alerts
- Adaptive cruise control combines with braking feature to maintain a safe following distance
- Keeps safe following distance by reducing throttle, engaging engine retarder or applying foundation brakes
- Collision mitigation feature alerts driver and automatically applies brakes to help decelerate when system senses rear-end collision may be imminent
- Two-thirds of available braking power of vehicle can be delivered through collision mitigation
- Stationary object alert system provides audible and visual alerts to driver when vehicle is approaching a stationary metallic object
- Features Electronic Stability technology uses all available brakes to keep vehicle stable when automatic braking activates on slick surfaces
- Able to deliver useful data such as following distance histograms, alerts provided and stability events
