The Green to Gold Award recognizes the local business that best exemplifies “green” leadership. It’s sponsored by the President’s Club Gold Star Partner Bowling Green Municipal Utilities (BGMU).

Directed by its energy conservation team, BSFB made capital improvements to its Bowling Green plant this year. Among them: completing a facility-wide, energy-saving retrofit lighting project; installing new, energy-efficient air compressors; and upgrading gas-powered forklifts to electric. In all, the improvements will result in approximately a 4.4 million kilowatt – or $350,000 – savings in electrical usage each year.

BSFB is a joint venture between Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC and Dana Commercial Vehicle Products, LLC. It produces the full lineup of commercially available Bendix brand foundation drum and air disc brake solutions at the state-of-the-art Bowling Green facility, established in 2007.

“The entire team at BSFB is proud to earn the Green to Gold Award, and grateful to the chamber of commerce and Bowling Green Municipal Utilities,” says David Jackson, HSE manager at the Bowling Green plant. “Our company’s core commitment to save energy drives all our efforts. Led by Maintenance Technician Michael Montgomery, the men and women behind these successes also bring personal passion to making their facility, community, and planet better places."

Each year, in conjunction with Targeted Business and Industry Month, the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce holds the Targeted Business and Industry Banquet to recognize and salute targeted businesses and industries throughout South Central Kentucky for their accomplishments. This year, the chamber honored 20 businesses.

In 2011 and 2015, expansion of operations at the Bowling Green facility earned BSFB the chamber’s Business Expansion Award. Also in 2015, projects designed to save energy at the facility were rewarded with incentive rebates from TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority).
