Danfoss Power Solutions introduces its 2-Motor-Transmission (2MT) solution as an alternative to the standard torque converter solution.

  • Allows for increased flexibility and performance compared to torque converter systems
  • Four different drive modes enable the machine to adapt to operating conditions, operator preference or even fuel efficiency requirements, resulting in fuel savings of up to 20%
  • OEMs can implement customized settings regarding aggressiveness of machine’s response
  • Increases operator comfort due to reduced noise and smoother transitions
  • Provides better productivity by matching diesel engine speed to power demand 
  • Consists of hydrostatic pump, two hydrostatic motors, controller and software, as well as a third-party gearbox
  • Pump and motors are connected in parallel through hydraulics
  • Two motors are connected to the same gearbox with different ratios
  • Both motors are used at slower vehicle speeds (up to 16 kph/9.9 mph), providing high tractive force
  • Second motor switches off and disconnects from gearbox once rated speed capacity of gearbox is reached 
  • Disengagement and engagement of second motor happens without any loss in tractive force, speeding up operating time and making the machine more productive
  • Reduces wear on service brakes, ultimately lowering operating costs 
  • Developed and refined for wheel loaders with operating weight between 10- and 17-tons 
  • Engine can be placed strategically for total machine optimization because system configuration not as rigid as other solutions
  • Peak power required is lower than torque converter, allowing wheel loader OEMs to downsize their engine by 10-15%
  • Different drive modes mean OEM can program wheel loader to behave like it has a torque converter
  • Ability to use same machine architecture to produce different operational results allows OEMs to access the full wheel loader market with one streamlined design
