At the bauma Exhibition in Shanghai November 27 to 30, 2012, Oerlikon Segment Drive Systems will showcase the complementary technologies of its specialist transmission and driveline businesses, through the brands Oerlikon Graziano and Oerlikon Fairfield. Among the technologies on display by the sister companies at booth 447, Hall N3, will be the latest in off-highway axles, Torque Hub, Shifting solutions, providing integrated solutions for all types of demanding construction machinery applications.
The joint appearance at bauma reflects the growing presence in China of the two brands and follows the opening of a 22,000 m manufacturing facility in the last years and a recent expansion of the Shanghai office. The Suzhou factory has comprehensive gear manufacturing and assembly facilities and its own heat treatment plant. The Shanghai office now provides Application Engineering, Customer Service and Global Sourcing in addition to Sales, for both Oerlikon Graziano and Oerlikon Fairfield.
Oerlikon Segment Drive Systems first established a manufacturing presence in China during 2005, in order to be closer to its customers in this key market. The latest expansion is a strategic investment to allow further growth in the region by providing complete drive solutions with full local support.

Between the two brands, Oerlikon Fairfield and Oerlikon Graziano, the product range exhibited at bauma China 2012 includes axle systems for motor graders and wheel loaders, drivelines for fork lift trucks and ground support equipment and a complete range of Torque Hub. The company will also display examples of its gear sets and Shifting solutions (synchronizers and powershift units). Technical staff will be available to answer questions on all the technologies during the show, or to give more in-depth interviews by prior arrangement through the press contacts shown.
The products and technologies to be displayed at bauma China 2012 includes:
- Torque Hub Drives - Torque Hub final drives deliver the torque output and long-life performance required for industrial machinery and off-highway mobile equipment. Available with integrated Torque Lock parking brake, the different models can be assembled on different applications in the off-highway, construction and mining market.
- GA Rear Axle System for Motor Grader Machines - The GA rear axle system is a new generation of motor grader axles specifically designed with a complete tandem box. Wet disc brakes are fitted outboard on each wheel hub for greater braking capacity and easier cooling and the complete package is ready to install in motor grader machines.
- PR Axle for Wheeled Loaders - The PR 24 axle for wheeled loaders, with wet disk brakes (WDB), is one of the biggest in Oerlikon's range, which also includes the PR10, 12 and 15 - PR25 and PR30 axles which are under development. These axles supply the requirements of machines from 10 to over 30 tons operating weight and are equipped with a patented oil circulation pump integrated into the differential, providing maximum reliability and highly efficient brake cooling.
- Drivelines for Forklift trucks and Ground Support Equipment (AXLE BO and PST) - Comprising a front axle with WDB together with a two-speed powershift transmission, this innovative axle, developed for forklift applications, is available in a range from 4 to 6 tons lifting capacity. A simpler version is also available with drum disk brakes, suitable for applications with between 3.5 and 8 tons lifting capacity, for both IC and Electrical forklift trucks. Specifically designed for industrial applications, the two-speed F/R power-shift transmission is suitable for forklift truck applications from 4 to 8 tons lifting capacity and is also ideal for Ground Support Equipment (GSE) applications up to 60,000 N drawbar pull and up to 40 kph max speed.
- Shifting solutions - More than 1,000,000 synchronizers produced for agricultural tractors, construction equipment, passenger cars and trucks have been developed by Oerlikon. The company is a world leader in synchronizers for agricultural tractor applications, with a complete range of diameters from 62 mm to 170 mm and single, double and triple cone solutions. Powershift clutch units are designed, developed and tested based on customer specific applications. Fitted on power-shuttle and powershift agricultural and construction transmissions, they provide vehicles with improved drive comfort, shifting and efficiency.
