Meritor Inc. announces that its electrified ProTec eSuspension and ProTec Enhanced Mobility System for military and off-road civilian applications are now available to European customers. Supporting the ProTec systems is Meritor’s proven MTC-3200-GV Series transfer case that also fits a range of transport, logistical and technical vehicles that must operate in challenging conditions.
“By using advanced technologies such as electrification, Meritor is developing products for military applications that are environmentally friendly without sacrificing performance,” says Joe Muscedere, Vice President, Off-Highway, Specialty & Defense for Meritor. “When paired with proven performers such as the MTC-3200-GV series transfer case, these new products provide today’s military with solutions that have an eye toward the future.”
The eSuspension system for tactical wheeled military vehicles and armored personnel carriers features Meritor’s integrated eCarrier drive system that replaces a conventional mechanical engine with an electric motor integrated into the rear drive axle. The configuration delivers a low sound signature and zero local emissions. In addition, the integrated carrier design provides a smaller, more compact solution that allows batteries to be located inside the frame rails for a more protected operation.
The eSuspension is designed for a gross axle weight rating up to 7 tons and is available in one- and two-speed options. The double-wishbone independent suspension design offers improved off-road capacity and performance over beam axle solutions and is available as steerable front- and rear-driven options.
The ProTec Enhanced Mobility System improves off-road capability and performance for tactical wheeled vehicles, offering gross vehicle weight rating up to 10 tons. Featuring an optimized frame rail design and Meritor Xtended Lube drivelines, the chassis has 14.5 in. (368 mm) of ground clearance to deliver improved off-road performance. Wheel travel of 11.5 in. (292 mm) helps to maintain contact with the ground in extreme off-road conditions. Features include a 35-degree steer angle offering high maneuverability in close quarters, lightweight differentials and wheel-ends and high-performance, four-piston hydraulic disc brakes.
The MTC-3209-GV (MTC/RTC 60) Transfer Case for direct mount on Allison 3000 transmissions is designed to minimize sound and vibration. Built with a lightweight aluminum housing to increase payload capacity, the compact T-case reduces installation space.
Meritor’s solutions for military, off-highway and specialty customers, including the products mentioned above, are showcased in booth B-512 at the Eurosatory Defense and Security International exhibition June 11-15 in Paris.
