ZF has received the Innovation Award from the Busworld trade exhibition for its CeTrax electric central drive. The electric drive allows buses used for public transportation to operate with zero emissions. ZF’s technology beat out strong competition in the category for individual components and peripherals.
The technology company was honored with the Innovation Award by the specialist jury the night before the Busworld exhibition in Brussels. The CeTrax electric central drive beat a tough and diverse field of competitors in the category for individual components and peripherals. "This award demonstrates again that ZF is a pioneer in the electrification of all vehicle segments. CeTrax is a central building block in developing future-proof mass transit, which ZF makes every effort to support," said Dr. Andreas Grossl, Head of Axle and Transmission Systems for Buses and Coaches at ZF, during the awards ceremony. "The trophy proves once again that we are on the right track with our strategy."
This is not the first award that ZF has received this year for its electric bus drives. In February, the AxTrax AVE electric portal axle was presented with the Environmental Protection Award at the ElekBu trade show in Berlin.
CeTrax: flexible and powerful
CeTrax was specifically designed by ZF for use in buses and was presented to the public for the first time in 2017. The design of the drive is based on a plug-and-drive approach. CeTrax can be easily installed in vehicles with a conventional driveline layout. It is thus suitable for the development of new vehicles as well as for retrofitting existing platforms. This allows vehicle manufacturers and fleet operators to respond flexibly to market requirements and legal regulations.
