Michelin Earthmover unveiled the MICHELIN XDR2 tire for severe mining and quarry applications at CONEXPO-CON/AGG, held March 22 to 26 in Las Vegas, NV. The tire - designed for rigid dump trucks - offers up to 20% more tread life than its predecessor, the MICHELIN XDR tire.
- Features 10% thicker undertread between protective plies and tread base for better cut and impact resistance
- Self-cleaning tread pattern
- Protection against aggressions and cut separations provided by full-depth blocks, 13% larger central lug compared to XDR tire and non-directional design
- Evolving tread design provides increased contact patch as tire wears
- Sculptured cooling vents help keep running temperatures low
- Incorporates Michelin's C2 Technology in casing to provide cooler operating temperature without compromising operating speed or load carrying capacity
- Shielded against aggressions and sperations by steel protective plies 60% stronger than the XDR tire
- Sidewall twice as thick as previous generation to resist cuts and abrasions
- 10% reduction in materials used provides lighter weight for fuel savings as well as minimizes waste during production
- Available in size 27R49 with additional sizes available later in the year
