How quickly time flies. It's already been a month since my last post. Tsk tsk!
Recently I've been spending quite a bit of time researching the EPA On-Board Diagnostic regulations. They aren't new, since they were implemented alongside the EPA 2010 On-Highway emissions regulations (Re: Clean Diesel Truck and Bus Program; 66 FR 5002) but there are discussions now for implementing these regs on off-road vehicles. *The proposal is EPA Docket No. EPA-HQ-OAR-2005-0047*
It gets mind-boggling how much OBD really entails, since it ranges from the regulations and legislation all the way to the technology and implementation. There are issues with hybrid systems, and there are no requirements drawn out yet (or that I have been able to find) to guide heavy-duty OEMs toward OBD compliance.
