Technology News Tracker: Lighting Technology Gets Smarter

Manufacturers are developing more intelligent lighting solutions as a means of improving visibility and safety.

Grote Industries says smart lighting created by incorporating sensors and controls will likely make its way into the industry over the next several years.

Digitized lights such as the HELLA Smart Matrix Worklights aim to improve safety by enabling individual LED segments to be dimmed in order to minimize glare.

HELLA has also introduced its VISIOTECH Projection-Technology which projects warning signals onto the ground to optically alert other vehicles or passers-by.

These and other smart lighting technologies will become increasingly important to meet the trend toward further vehicle electrification and automation.

In terms of autonomous driving, HELLA says lighting will play an important role in communicating between autonomous and non-autonomous vehicles, as well as pedestrians.
