POSITAL has added a Modbus RTU interface to its rotary encoders and inclinometers, including its IXARC and TILTIX ranges.

  • Modbus RTU is a low-cost, easy-to-implement communications protocol commonly used in mid-sized control systems (up to 32 nodes)
  • Interface is used in various applications including mobile machinery
  • Protocol makes use of RS485 transmission standard, based on shielded twisted pair cabling
  • Can communicate reliably over distances of more than 1,000 m (3,280.8 ft.), even in the presence of electromagnetic interference (EMI)
  • Available in wide range of mechanical configurations
  • Various options for housing material and levels of environmental protection, shaft type and diameter, mounting flange, and connector type
  • Choice of single- and multi-turn measurement ranges
  • Multi-turn models' rotation counter is powered by Wiegand sensor that harvests energy from rotation of the device’s shaft
