IPETRONIK, Inc., a designer, developer and manufacturer of mobile measurement technologies for the global automotive market, has announced the introduction of the Sx-STG, the newest member of the IPETRONIK Sx product family. The Sx-STG is a compact, eight-channel, high-speed, multi-input analog measurement module with on-board sensor excitation.
- For use within demanding mobile unipolar and bipolar voltages from ± measurement applications with stringent reliability and high sample rate requirements
- Applications include vibration and acceleration assessments, road load data acquisition, and vehicle component and body testing
- Offers user-selectable sensor signal output types, including IEPE (also known as ISOTRON or ICP); charge or voltage output; and strain gauge
- Supports 1/4, 1/2 and full-bridge circuit designs
- Features option to include TEDS sensor recognition (per IEEE 1451.4)
- Each analog input is galvanically isolated and able to measure twelve 0.01 to ±50V, with 16-bit resolution
- Able to withstand maximum voltages up to ±100V
- Each input offers own adjustable, dual sensor excitation, which is can be set to a maximum of ±15V with up to ±45 mA
- Onboard hardware features an integral, eighth-order, 4,800 Hz Butterworth low-pass filter which can be turned on or off as needed
- Operates from a 9 to 36V DC supply voltage
- Automatically powers off if voltage drops to below 6V
- Power consumption is typically 7.5W, rising to a maximum of 20W under full load (with sensor excitation)
- Operates either as standalone measurement modules or as part of a system incorporating other products from the IPETRONIK Sx and Mx series
- Includes channel sample rates of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 Hz, as well as 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 40 kHz,
- Abile to select from among four different rates per module
- Outputs data via Fast Ethernet at a maximum speed of 100 MBit/s in accordance with IEEE 802.3 via XCPonEthernet (UDP/IP)
- Dual bus concept (CAN and Ethernet in a single cable) allows output data directly to the CANbus upon completion of system integration, at a sample rate of up to 2 kHz
- Dual bus systems are decoupled to a standard notebook PC (sold separately) using a special xBus2PC adapter cable
- Offers offset and target value adjustment, shunt checks for sensor evaluation, supplementary bridge resistors that can be selected via software at 120, 350 and 1000Ω
- Includes sensor excitation current surge detection capabilities
- Wire breakage detection function for measurement inputs can be activated via software
- Housing is an anodized aluminum enclosure, measuring 75 x 119 x 185 mm (2.95 x 4.68 x 7.28 in.) and weighing just 1430 g (3.15 lbs)
- Environmental sealing protection of IP54
- Operates over a temperature range of –40 C to 85 C (-40 to 185 F) at 5% to 95% relative humidity
