The steel company, which began its journey on SQEP in 2007, was initially certified to Bronze level after just 12 months and since then has gradually improved its performance to where it is today.
Peter Gate, Global Account Manager for Caterpillar at Tata Steel, says, “We are delighted with our Silver recertification and it demonstrates Tata Steel’s commitment to working closely with our clients to achieve the best possible results. We will most definitely be targeting Gold certification in the near future and will continue to build on our existing supply chain successes.
“Gaining certification means that Tata Steel has met prescribed criteria on quality and delivery performance as well as demonstrating ability to continuously improve processes. Our Trackshoe Longbar project was one such example of how Tata Steel’s close working relationship with Caterpillar brought about beneficial gains in supply chain efficiency.”
