LiuGong Displays New 922E Crawler Excavator

LiuGong recently displayed its new 922E crawler excavator, which offers an 18% reduction in fuel consumption, at INTERMAT 2012.

Liu Gong 922 E Excavator

LiuGong Machinery Co., a premier global construction equipment manufacturer, displayed its next generation 922E excavator at this year’s INTERMAT trade show, its largest overseas exhibit to date. The machine was seen at LiuGong’s booth located at 6 J062/L062 in Building 6.

The 922E is the next generation crawler excavator from LiuGong, following in the tracks of the renowned 922D, with additional power, control and operating efficiencies.

Smart technology has been the trademark of the 922D, and the 922E takes it to a whole new level. In the span of 18 months, LiuGong has improved operating efficiency in its excavators by a total of 10%, while reducing fuel consumption by 18%.

The new E series machine boosts operating efficiency by 5% while reducing fuel consumption by 8% over the Series D unveiled last year. The Series D had already improved efficiency by 5% and lowered fuel consumption by 10% over previous models.

The 922E is a study in power and control, and it starts with LiuGong’s Intelligent Power Control System (IPC). The automatic power boost mode increases digging force by up to 10% for 10-second intervals, giving the operator an “on demand” boost for additional break-out power. The no-time-limit heavy lift system enables the operator to increase pressure to build force and reduce hydraulic flow to the attachment, while reducing speed, for added control during lifting operations. An automatic boom descend regeneration system allows the boom to descend faster, increasing productivity while lowering fuel consumption.

When it comes to severe conditions, the 922E has what it takes to get the job done. The cold weather auxiliary starting system and high-elevation power compensation systems combine to extend operating ranges and productivity, regardless of season or location.

The unique multi working-mode selection system gives the operator the ability to match excavator performance closely to the type of job required – from extra power or lifting configurations to attachment modes, including bi-directional control to the fuel saving economy mode – all of which optimize the machine performance to the job of the day.

The 922E is powered by the highly-efficient Cummins QSB6.7 diesel engine rated at 127 kw, 9% greater than the 922D. It delivers extra power for extra-tough duty, while reducing both fuel consumption and emissions. The machine on display at INTEMRAT is Stage IIIB compliant to meet the toughest emissions standards globally, but depending on market requirements the 922E can be provided in Stage IIIA or Tier 2 configurations.

As the cost of fuel continues to rise, engine idling is becoming a growing issue for the construction industry. LiuGong takes this issue seriously. The 922E features an automatic idle function, which reduces engine rpm after just five seconds when the machine is at rest, significantly reducing fuel consumption and engine wear.

The 922D has built a big reputation around operator safety and comfort. The 922E adds to that reputation. Comfort features include one of the largest cabs in the industry, silicon fluid-filled cab mounts, climate and sound controlled cab and smooth, intuitive, anti-fatigue pilot controls.   To promote safety, the 922E is ROPS certified according to the new ISO 12117-2-2008 procedure.

Maintenance is simple and convenient, with easily accessible, user-friendly filters, fill-ports and fluid checks. Diagnostic ports for all critical hydraulic checks are conveniently located.  The radiator is easily removed for fast, efficient maintenance and replacement, helping maximize uptime and productivity.
