Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation has announced an expanded range of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical power management solutions designed to meet the rigorous requirements of the mining, mineral extraction and processing industries at the MINExpo International 2012 Conference in Las Vegas. Eaton’s solutions were on display from September 24 to 26, 2012 at booth #26119, in the South Hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Eaton’s advancements in electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical technology help safeguard against unexpected work interruptions to provide critical performance value within harsh applications. Through these solutions, Eaton can address key power management challenges across the entire mining value chain from drilling to loading and hauling, crushing and screening, material handling and mineral processing.
“Eaton offers products and solutions that address the most critical power management challenges throughout every step of the mining value chain,” says Simon Meester, corporate segment director, mining, Eaton. “Our global solutions are aimed at maximizing productivity and safety while minimizing costs and downtime.”
Providing advanced warning of product failure and protection against the unexpected enables Eaton customers to better avoid unplanned downtime resulting in substantial losses in productivity and revenue. Additionally, Eaton’s globally certified components offer the ability for one global design with just one part number, enabling cost-effective operation over the total life cycle of the product.
At the event, Eaton’s hydraulics business showcased the LifeSense intelligent hose condition monitoring system that detects failure and provides advanced notification, allowing customers enough time to replace the hose during planned maintenance prior to failure. Eaton’s hydraulics business also featured the new Guardian hose sleeve, which protects equipment operators from potential injuries resulting from hose failures, and the Airflex Floating Housing Brake (FHB), a new heavy-duty air-cooled, spring-applied/pressure released disc brake for surface mining, oilfield and other heavy industrial applications.
Eaton’s electrical business introduced the new W-VACiMB compact vacuum circuit breakers at the event. The breakers are designed to withstand the demanding environmental conditions in mining applications and are suitable for high altitude, shock, vibration and high ambient temperatures. Eaton’s electrical business also displayed new partial-discharge InsulGard and BushingGard relays, predictive diagnostics technology engineered to provide advanced warning of impending insulation failure of transformers, switchgear, motors and generators, alerting operators of potential failures before they occur.
Additionally, Eaton’s electrical business hosted an interactive virtual demo of the new Power Xpert UX medium-voltage switchgear assembly at the booth, which is the industry’s first global platform of electrical switchgear that is certified to meet the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 62271-200 standard.
