The first day of the Agritechnica exhibition on Sunday, November 10, 2013, began with a special event. Fendt had the pleasure of accepting the silver medal for its new hydraulic coupling system right at the beginning of the exhibition. On the third day, Fendt received two major awards. The 500 Vario and the new X-model combines each were named “Machine of the Year.”

Silver for the flexible flat-sealing hydraulic coupling system
The flat-sealing system provides full flexibility, permitting a step-wise conversion to new hydraulic connectors. “With our system, customers can fit their hydraulic blocks with different sized couplings to meet their requirements. In addition to the most often used 1/2-inch coupling, it is also possible to use 3/4-inch couplings and the new flat-sealing 5/8-inch coupling,” explains Jürgen Knobloch, Director, Engineering Hydraulics. This practical and customer-oriented approach convinced the jury of experts, because farms no longer need to switch over to a new system all at once, they can convert to the modern hydraulic systems step by step. “The system can be coupled under pressure on both sides. Breakaway protection is still integrated,” adds Knobloch. Fendt has also kept the time-tested color-coding of the connections for its new hydraulic coupling system and the new coupling shield prevents hose mix-ups.

A total of 33 silver medals were awarded. There were some 393 submissions this year, primarily in the area of tractor and vehicle design. “This reflects the innovative power of the entire industry. All leading manufacturers are presenting their innovations here at the Agritechnica,” explained DLG President Carl-Albrecht Bartmer at the awards ceremony.

Two “Machine of the Year” awards: 500 Vario and X-Series
The AGCO/Fendt Team was pleased to receive two awards at the official awards ceremony for the “Machine of the Year.” “When selecting our award winners, we paid special attention to practicability,” explained Detlef Steinert, Editor in Chief of the dlz agrarmagazin, in his welcoming words at the awards ceremony. The 500 Vario is convincing in its overall design concept, with optimal ergonomics and cutting-edge, highly efficient technologies. The Variotronic and Varioterminal, VarioGuide and VarioDoc documentation, are only a few of the features with which Fendt sets standards in the power class from 125 to 165 hp.

The Fendt Variotronic was also an major factor in winning the award for the Fendt X-Model. Fendt has consistently implemented and perfectly integrated the operating interface and technologies in the new combine with hybrid technology. A clear advantage in practice, because Fendt operators always find the same operating logic in all of their machines. Further convincing selling points are the 10.74 m wide PowerFlow table as well as the optional ATRAK track. “We are especially proud to be able to accept a major award in the professional harvesting segment. We have made significant investments in the harvesting division and, here at the Agritechnica, we have demonstrated that we are situated in the top class for both tractors and harvesting machinery,” said Andreas Loewel, Managing Director of AGCO Deutschland GmbH.
