Mining Equipment 2Sherwin-WilliamsSherwin-Williams General Industrial Coatings has introduced the OneCure portfolio, a patented dust-on-dust (DoD) powder coating system that allows primer and topcoat to cure simultaneously in a single bake.

The system is developed for manufacturers in the transportation, heavy equipment and energy industries. By removing a second bake cycle from the finishing process, it is designed to streamline operational efficiency, reduce material handling and lower energy consumption.

OneCure utilizes a patented crosslinking process that enhances intercoat adhesion as the primer and topcoat cure together. The portfolio enables multiple primer chemistries—such as super-durable polyester, polyester/epoxy hybrid, epoxy and zinc-rich epoxy—to work with a single super-durable polyester topcoat.

Features include:

  • Reduces cycle times by 30% to 40% compared to a traditional two-bake system.
  • Lowers energy use and the amount of production floor and oven space required.
  • Improves coating uniformity and edge coverage to deliver lasting corrosion resistance.
  • Decreases corrosion-related claims by up to 75% versus a direct-to-metal system.
  • Reduces work-in-process inventory by up to 50%.
