Volvo Penta has unveiled its Stage V concept which includes all five of its engine models – the D5, D8, D11, D13, and D16.

  • Offers power range from 105-565 kW (143-770 hp)
  • Optimized to meet upcoming emission standards, as well as future customer needs
  • Ensures installation commonality between different emission levels, providing consistent engine program from Stage II to Stage V for OEMs
  • Uses same hardware layout and electrical architecture to ensure consistency across different emission stages
  • Delivers complete system, where engine and EATS (engine aftertreatment work together in harmony
  • Equipped with fixed geometry turbo, which contributes to reduced complexity, improved fuel consumption and increased efficiency
  • Common-rail injection system reduces noise levels and delivers reduced fuel consumption
  • Uncooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) delivers highly effective heat management for the engine
  • Electrical exhaust pressure governor (EPG) and inlet throttle enable system to function without need to inject fuel into exhaust stream to raise temperature so exhaust gas has optimal temperature when passing through EATS
  • Features low heat rejection
  • Engine and EATS designed to work together to maximize passive regeneration during normal operation
  • No high temperature regeneration as sulfur regeneration in SCR catalyst is not required, only soot regeneration needed to clean DPF
  • Flexible, modular design of EATS eases installation, operation and maintenance, and allows installation in different configurations and positions
  • EATS includes DOC, DPF and SCR systems
