NTEA is moving the Green Truck Summit to a larger location for Work Truck Week 2022 to meet unprecedented demand while maintaining comfortable spacing. Green Truck Summit, a full-day program focused on clean energy trends for commercial vehicles, shifts from its traditional location on the first floor of JW Marriott Indianapolis to the JW Grand Ballroom on the third floor.

Work Truck Week, North America’s largest work truck event, is scheduled March 8-11, 2022, at Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, Ind. Green Truck Summit is March 8 at the adjacent JW Marriott Indianapolis. Education sessions run March 8-10, and the Work Truck Show exhibit hall is open March 9-11.

“The work truck industry is ready to get back together in person,” says Kevin Koester, NTEA managing director. “We hear daily from exhibitors and attendees how much they’re looking forward to reconnecting with their friends and colleagues, seeing all the new work trucks, equipment and technology, and learning the latest trends and best practices. Registration for Green Truck Summit is running about 20% higher than in 2020, so we’re making this move to accommodate more people without overcrowding.”

Green Truck Summit brings together government representatives, educators, fleets, manufacturers and innovators to provide updates on the work truck industry’s path to zero emissions. Sessions offer operational insights for vocational truck fleet managers, as well as perspectives on the evolution of commercial vehicles and advanced technology development.

Liane Randolph, chair of the California Air Resources Board (CARB), will deliver the keynote address. John Davis, creator, host and executive producer of MotorWeek, returns as emcee. New this year is a full slate of 16 short breakout sessions in the afternoon.

Green Truck Summit begins with a welcome at 8:30 a.m. and remarks from Green Truck Association Chair Paul Kokalis, president of Fontaine Modification. Randolph takes the stage at 8:40 a.m., followed by general sessions How Hydrogen and Fuel Cells will Affect Work Trucks and Upfitting Electric Vehicles: Work Truck Industry Challenges and Opportunities. After lunch (included with registration), the final general session is Global Influences on Green Vehicle Technology. Then participants can choose which four 20-minute breakout sessions they want to attend over the next couple hours. Topics include green product updates, EV grants, how key industry segments are driving toward zero emissions, and maintenance for EVs and their chargers. Green Truck Summit concludes with a reception from 4-5 p.m.

Green Truck Summit registration includes access to the Work Truck Show exhibit hall where attendees can check out the latest products from more than 500 exhibiting companies and can participate in the Work Truck Week Ride & Drive, March 9-10. Ride & Drive features 19 commercial vehicles with the latest advanced technologies, sustainability offerings and alternative fuel applications. Participants can drive many of the vehicles on city streets. Full details can be found at worktruckweek.com/rideanddrivevehicles. Green Truck Summit attendees can also choose from dozens of additional education and training sessions throughout the week covering topics such as chassis OEM updates, market trends, vehicle design and specification, risk mitigation and vehicle regulations.

Popular networking events available as an add-on to Green Truck Summit or Work Truck Week registration include Opening Reception at Lucas Oil Stadium, Generation Next Leadership Workshop & Networking Reception, and NTEA Annual Meeting with keynote speaker Mike Rowe, executive producer, host and best-selling author.

Health and Safety

To provide a reassuring business environment where the commercial vehicle community can be productive while reconnecting, Work Truck Week 2022 is increasing event and session room spacing, reducing touchpoints with more self-service registration kiosks, and implementing a free health screening process all attendees must pass before badge pickup. U.S. citizens can download the free CLEAR app to complete the Health Pass screening in advance to allow for secure and seamless entry upon arrival. Non-U.S. citizens and those without access to the CLEAR app can complete a quick, three-question symptom survey at one of the on-site registration areas. Currently, masks are optional at Work Truck Week 2022, but NTEA supports usage as desired based on personal preference.
