PHINIA Inc. has announced the completion of its acquisition of Swedish Electromagnet Invest AB (SEM). The acquisition brings SEM's expertise in advanced ignition technologies for natural gas, hydrogen and other alternative fuels into PHINIA's portfolio of fuel and electrical systems. SEM also produces injector stators and linear position sensors for commercial vehicle and industrial markets. PHINIA stated the move supports its strategy to invest in technologies that advance sustainability.
SEM, which has over a century of experience in the industry, specializes in ignition technologies for commercial and industrial engines. The integration of the two companies aims to combine PHINIA's background in engine management systems with SEM's ignition system knowledge.
PHINIA expects the acquisition to enhance PHINIA's product portfolio and strategy, enabling the company to explore adjacent market opportunities and provide customers with a wider range of products and turnkey solutions. This move aims to not only strengthen PHINIA's commitment to sustainability, but also establish the company as a key player in the transition toward alternative fuel technologies.
