There are certain years that stand out as significant years of market consolidation with considerable amounts of mergers and acquisitions. 2016 has been one of those years. Just take a look at the list of acquisitions from the past 8 months alone, and I'm sure there are plenty we have missed:
January 20, Certified Power Acquires Cirus Controls
February 1, Siemens to Acquire CD-adapco
February 2, WABCO Announces Acquisition of MICO
February 3, Pure Power Technologies Acquired from Navistar
February 22, Wynnchurch Capital Acquires Texas Hydraulics
April 19, WABCO Acquires Laydon Composites Ltd
June 20, Knorr-Bremse Acquiring GT Group
June 23, Telogis Acquired by Verizon
July 5, Camso Acquires Eurowheel
July 6, PPG Acquires MetoKote
July 8, Timken Acquires Lovejoy Inc.
There are several reasons for the acquisitions, from broadening a product line to increasing global reach. It will be interesting to watch how the remainder of 2016 continues and to see what further consolidation there is on the horizon.
