Caterpillar Japan Planning to Make Record Number of Excavators in 2012

Caterpillar Japan says it will produce a record number of excavators in 2012 due to the amount of infrastructure rebuilding necessary after the 2011 earthquake.

Due to the amount of infrastructure rebuilding still taking place in Japan after the March 2011 earthquake, Caterpillar Japan says it will produce a record number of excavators in 2012.

Production is speculated to increase by 20% at the Akashi plant, and 15% at the company's Sagamihara facility. Reconfiguration of production lines will enable the Akashi plant to increase capacity from 1,500 units to 2,000.
