January housing stars rose 1.5%, providing a slight increase for the home construction industry, though single family home construction was down 1%.
The majority of construction was for multifamily homes, which increased by 8.5%.
Some economists point to the unseasonably warm weather that has been occuring across the country, enabling construction companies to continue working through the winter months.
While the housing industry has begun to see slight increases, there is still a lot of uncertainty in the market.
