On May 2, 2012, on the occasion of the Conbuild Mining Indonesia Trade Show, Djoko Kirmanto, Minister of Public Works of the Republic of Indonesia, Klaus Dittrich, Chairman & CEO of Messe München International, and Walter Hess, the VDMA’s Special Envoy for the bauma Partner Country of Indonesia, signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The VDMA (Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau e.V.), specifically the relevant trade association within this industry federation, is coordinating this partnership initiative.
This is now official confirmation from the relevant Indonesian government ministries and decision-makers of their acceptance of the nomination of Indonesia as the Partner Country of bauma, and of their support for the world’s largest trade show taking place from April 15 to 21, 2013 in Munich.
Kirmanto says, "Being the partner country of bauma 2013 is a good opportunity for Indonesia to promote itself as a developing market. We expect that bauma as the world's biggest platform could attract new investments for Indonesia's infrastructure and provide new business activities and networks between Indonesian companies and bauma exhibitors.”
Dittrich, Chairman & CEO of Messe München says, "Last year alone the construction industry in Indonesia grew by almost 7%. It is the most dynamic sector in the Indonesian economy. Investment in all segments is showing a significant upwards trend. All of which makes Indonesia the ideal Partner Country for the next bauma."
The goal of the initiators of the Partner Country concept is to further boost the profile of bauma in Indonesia as the world’s greatest innovations showcase for the sector, and to enter into dialogue with the decision-makers in Indonesia. Hess, the VDMA’s Special Envoy for the bauma Partner Country of Indonesia, explained at the signing of the agreement, "We want to convince them to invest in the right technology and modern standards – and for that bauma offers an excellent platform. Only at bauma can investors get a truly comprehensive picture of all the latest technology and find out just what is possible in terms of sustainable investment in the construction, building materials and mining industry."
The initiative seeks to promote in particular contacts between Indonesian companies, government offices, associations and their German and international counterparts in the construction, building materials and mining industry.
In addition, at this, the biggest trade show in the world, the Indonesian representatives have the unique opportunity of presenting their country as a location for business and investment.
