Transportation and Housing Bills Fail to Pass House and Senate

Both of the proposed DOT and HUD spending bills by the House and Senate failed to pass before the lawmakers go on recess.

The Departments of Transportation (DOT) and Housing and Urban Development (HUD) spending bills propsed by the House and Senate both failed to be passed before lawmakers broke for a recess. 

The Senate rejected its $55 billion dollar version of the spending bill with many Republicans saying the bill exceed spending levels put in force by the Budget Control Act of 2011. Meanwhile, the House pulled its $44.1 billion spending bill due to a lack of time.

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) reportedly said the House version of the bill may be considered again in a month, and believes it will be passed by Congress when it returns from recess in September.
