Ohio Rod Products Introduces Career Center Students to Field of Fastener Manufacturing

The Ohio Rod Products division of the Elgin Fastener Group recently hosted 18 students from the Precision Machining program at the Southeastern Career Center in Versailles, IN, for the purpose of introducing them to the opportunities available in the field of specialty fastener manufacturing. Working in conjunction with program director Jeff Bray, the management and production personnel of Ohio Rod Products conducted guided plant tours and provided classroom instruction to the students, focusing on the various product applications and production methods utilized by the company. Plans to expand this one-day introduction into an ongoing manufacturing apprenticeship program and eventual full-time employment opportunities are already in place, as are discussions to include other interested students from local high schools.
